  • The crossing is situated at potters lane wednesbury west midlands not far from jct 9 m6 approx 10 mins away , i beleive the line linked dudley with walsall, mainly passenger traffic but switched to freight duties towards the end of operations ,some of the old track is still in situ , hope this has been helpful.

  • It seems strange that they would now tarmack this over when Network Rail is currently looking at reopening this, and investigating what needs to be done. I had a good look and they havent removed any of the track on this road, just tarmacked straight over it. weird!!

  • Its been tarmacked over now

  • @Liam993cc

It's the South Staffordshire Line between Stourbridge and Walsall via Dudley and Wednesbury. The line closed to passengers in the 1960's in the Beeching Axe, and was used only for freight. Its only used between Stourbridge and Round Oak now, with the rest of the line completely overgrown. However it will reopen in the next few years as part of the Midland Metro and freight trains :)

  • Im sure this is the old "great western" line?

If you look on google earth it runs for quite some time, and it also goes underneath j9 of the m6?

Im from wednesbury myself and cross this everyday
