I know it was June 1967 because that was when 'A Fistful Of Dollars' was showing at 'The London Pavilion'.

  • This is lovely to see, wonderful quality, it brings back the 1960's is if it were yesterday. Oh if only we could have London back the way it was then, so much better with shops that were so much more interesting, full of English made goods in the main. Thanks for posting this terrific time shift..

  • This is good to see. I wonder if anyone remembers how they turned the water higher so it ran on the steps to stop the 'hippies' sitting there in 68 or 69? Then moved the statue to make it even more difficult?

  • @nuitetjuors1 I love how, when Cleef next encounters the hunchback, he is cool as a cucumber ! : "well well well, look who it is ; remember me ?" ; Cleef, still enjoying his grub : "Uh uh .." Lol

  • @TheKenfig

she was a sort, definitely- and klaus kinski was great as the hunchback (as a contrast to her hunch front!)

  • @nuitetjuors1 Ha ha, how could I forget her ! . She is awesome "Tall isn't he ?" "You're just dirty !" says her little husband. I would have seen to her all right ! . So many good humour bits in that film ; the hat shooting contest feat the nervous Chinaman, the greedy kid "now look here you sawed off little runt !",the hunchback showdown with Cleef in the bar with the match / cigar and the card game "didn't hear you say what the bet was" - "your LIFE", Lol

  • @TheKenfig

same here, partly because of van cleef, partly for the soundtrack and most importantly, for the goofy looking yet well upholstered hotel landlady!

  • @nuitetjuors1 Yes and he would have been good in it .My personal fav of the three is For a few dollars more as I like Cleef's good guy and the friendship they forge ; good bad guys too

  • @TheKenfig

same here, til i looked at imdb. from now on, i'll take everything they say with a pinch of salt! you know they offered the part to chas bronson first? that would have been interesting.

  • @nuitetjuors1 maybe, but in fairness to him IMDB is relatively recent and when I first saw Fistful on tv in about 1975 / 76 it also said 1964 on the newspaper tv page. I have NEVER seen it advertised in writing as 1967

  • @TheKenfig

that's how i always understood it too. it's only recently i've seen it listed as '67. maybe the bloke who works for imdb thinks america/britain is the centre of the universe and that an italian release doesn't count!

  • @nuitetjuors1 Yes, I concur as I also checked although what I say is also true ; that when you see it in tv listings or in books, immediately after it's title it always says it's date with or without brackets as 1964 ( 'as if' it had been released that year, which it was, although only in Italy / rest of continental Europe (??) ). All other movies' year of release are presented in the same way as you know, without initially displaying WHEN they were filmed

  • @TheKenfig

that's what i thought too, so i double checked. turns out it was released in italy in '64 but didn't come out in the uk and the states until '67.

  • @nuitetjuors1 But I thought that when you see fistful advertised for tv or in a film guide book, it always has said 1964, implying year of RELEASE, not when it was filmed

  • piccadilly circus looked way better then. nowadays the lights are on one building.

  • @ergos645 FUNNY BECOZ I DNT SEE ANYTHING THAT BRITISH IN THIS VID.. INCLUDING THE CAMERA IT WAS SHOT ON!

  • @nakedmambo

i just looked them up. they were all released in 1967, so they were still probably seen in chronological order. it must have made people think sergio leone was a fast worker!

  • @nuitetjuors1 I didn't know that. So did everyone see For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly before Fistful?

  • @nakedmambo

"fistful" wasn't released until a couple of years after it was made.

  • From an era when London was a bit further away for us Scots. The music's a bit pretentious and I don't like the voiceover.

  • hoe you will help me out. I am making a micro budget film (self financed) and I like the images in the uploaded video 'Piccadilly 1967.'

Can I ask you where you got it from? Do you own it?

I am grateful for any information

    regards Saj

  • 'A Fistful of Dollars' was from 1964, so why does it date the footage to 1967?

  • Those were the days! Nothing like the immigrant/crime infested London we see today..

  • this is brillant!

  • This is great! I'd love to see a version with consistent audio.

  • Quieter and cleaner then. A lot less traffic too.

  • I wasn't around then = \ but great video!!
