Building Democracy in Muslim-Majority Countries: Indonesia, Senegal, & Tunisia

In this Ash Center Democracy Seminar, Professor Alfred Stepan will elaborate on his research building democracy in Muslim-majority countries, with special emphasis on Indonesia, Senegal, and Tunisia. He will also discuss Muslims in Hindu-majority India. Stepan is Wallace Sayre Professor of Government, the founding director of the Center for the Study of Democracy, Toleration, and Religion (CDTR), and the co-director of the Institute for Religion, Culture, and Public Life (IRCPL).
