The hardliner cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has long been a thorn in the side of the Americans. But after this weekend's events, has he gone too far?

Sadr wants the Americans and their secular idea of democracy out: "We don't want them or need them." Instead, he wants to introduce a Shi'ite administration which would impose Sharia law on the whole of the country. "Even non-Muslims will be subject to Islamic law." Sadr comes from one of the most revered Shia families in Iraq. After Saddam's agents assassinated his father and two brothers, he started an underground movement to resist the dictator. He believes the future of Iraq lies in the hands of the Shia. This pertinent report, filmed last summer, includes the only interview Sadr gave to a western reporter. It also includes useful footage of Sadr and his powerbase in the Holy City of Najaf, where Sharia law has already been imposed.

  • lol 08:08 for Saddam lookalike

  • Fuck You Saddam!!! Burn in Hell you BITCH!!! I wish they fucking pulled his finger nails one by one then sliced him into bits, and after that burned him alive

  • @nbarile18 Shi'ites are Shia, thats like saying Islam and Muslims must come together.

  • you can thank the terrorists for these DESPICABLE acts. Islam needs to come together to stop the violence. This a problem within the Islamic community. Why can they not settle their demands peacefully? Shia and Shiite must come together. Muslim and Christian must come together. THAT is how we fix this mess the terrorists have started.

  • oh my gosh, this is so sad.

  • @Biankoneri You truly are an immaculate example of a fool. The shia fight against oppression by Sadam and you call us criminals. He then randomly pulls people out of their houses and street and systematically executes them, and you still believe we are at fault? May Allah place you where you hero, Sadam, is sure to reside after the Day of Judgment.

  • Iraqi patriots loyal only to Iraq.
