I recently watched their documentary film End Of Innocence, and Tuomas talked about how he wrote this song and Slaying the Dreamer as basically his feelings. He was going trough a stressful time and was thinking of ending Nightwish when he wrote these. He said that he wrote these songs as if he was going to die tomorrow and he was telling all those people that he hated and treated him like crap to shove it , because he said he did not have the courage to say it to their faces.
