I guess to the un-trained eye one would call Joe Williams a person who stalls. To me, I don't think so. He scores when he wants, and as previously noted...he isn't really scored on.
I think he milks the system a little. Takes his time, gets an extra breath whenever he can....but it works. Did you see how frustrated Catrabone was at the end?
That's because he was losing and he couldn't score. That frustration also turned into extra energy use and fatigue.

Lost several close matches in prep school to a guy who went back to HS and took a second in Districts. The guy who beat him became a state champ so I always kid that I was, in effect, third in the state.
