This beach is south of Shark's Cove and north of Waimea Bay Beach Park. It is right across from Foodland Supermarket. You can get snorkeling gear and water shoes at relatively low price from the supermarket. The nice thing about this beach is that it has three surface level reefs close to the beach hence the name Three Tables. At high tide, these "tables / islands" are barely submerged. Swimmers can take a break on top of one of the 3 tables. The water is as calm as a lake in summer. See for yourself in this video. This clip was shot on Aug 7, 2010. 30 feet big waves come in winter though.
Local divers told me that there is no shark in shark's cove. The name come from the fin shape rocks in the cove.
Don't forget to also visit the tide pool between this beach and Shark's cove. At low tide, even small children can wade in the knee deep water in the sheltered tide pool to see fish without using a snorkel. Don't step on the smooth black rocks, they are very slippery when wet. Beware of sharp rocks. Buy a pair of water shoes ($9.99) from the Foodland supermarket across the road. They will protect your feet when you walk on top of the rock or wade in the pool.
Cant wait to see this place. Were going to north shore from waikiki two days out of the 7 we will be there.
