I though it would be interesting to hear the VM 2266 through various cabinets. So I recorded a demo using all my cabinets. I used a Canon HD cam with the Canon DM-100 microphone. I never adjusted the volume on the amp.

  • GREAT DEMO! No effects or other stuff to color the true tone, just guitar, amp, speakers. Thanks!

  • @DBAmichael Thats what I was going for

  • sounds thin and tinny

  • @dusted04 Not in my ears ...

  • how loud is it when the master volume is on 4? are you in room with the amp?

  • @manubro1 Not that loud. The VM is very forgiving :-) I am right there !

  • First of all I really like the videos you've posted of the Vintage Modern 2266. I'm getting myself one soon and especially this video has helped me choosing the amplifier and the cabinet as well. However I got a little confused about your Vintage Modern(s). On the Marshall Amp Shootout video it says that the amp is 2466 instead of 2266 so I am not sure which it is. I'm definitely getting myself the 2266 and I'd like to know if the 50 watts is enough with a cabinet with 4 G12T-75s.

  • Why the jubilee cab and the 1960A sound different if they have the same speakers??????????

  • @BB2009LZ hi. a question, did you changed your g12t 75 with other speakers? and maybe did you mixed them for example vg30 and gt1275 ? i would like to change or mix mines, and i need some help.. thx

  • Great Demo! my fav are the greenbacks (seems to bring out some plexi-tone)

  • I've heard the 100 watt V/M will give you an all together diffferent tone.

  • @dusted04 you're listening to it through a camera and then computer speakers or headphones, what do you expect

  • I really disliked the 1960a in this vid. :s The vintage 30's sounded way better for modern rock. I might have to go with that stiletto cab after all

  • Thanks for the fantastic demo. I've messed with a ton of cabs and speaker combos, and the scary thing is perfectly illustrated here: identical speakers in nearly identical cabinets can sound very different. G12T75's can sound great in one 4X12 and thin/piercing in another 4X12. I'll be deaf by the time I find the perfect speaker/combination.Currently leaning towards V-30's and WGS 55Khz G12h with the JCM-800. I also have a pair of speakers in a 1978 2X12 Marshall that I cant identify. HELP!

  • @bigeddie38 I've got a Mesa Mark III and a Vintage Modern 50 watt that I run through a 2x12 and it gets everything from clean Plexi to hotrodded Plexi and SLO tones from! Its a great compliment to the Mesa. Goodbye Orange Tiny Terror! The VM also records AWESOME!

  • Excellent video!!! I found that the Greenbacks sound like Scorpions (excellent!!!), the Slash cab sounds like Slash and (to my ears) the G12T-75s sound awful! I have a 1960A with G12T-75s and have replace two of them with V30 clones. It helps, but am afraid that I'm going to have to get some Greenbacks (I'd love a 1960TV)... I found it very, very interesting how different the Slash cabinet and the Legacy sounded with the only real differenc in how the speakers are loaded (front vs. rear).
