Viola Jam

Fiddlin around on the viola. My brother found it second hand for $75 AUD with a big crack in it, no soundpost or strings... so I got it fixed up and shes not half bad... there's a few fluff ups but hey, its youtube.

I use a Rode NT2-A mic for all my recordings, my violin also has a L R Baggs pickup but not the viola.

How easy was it to play the viola since you only play the violin? Or did you always know how to play both?

pretty easy... first time I picked one up I could play it. There was a little adjusting for the size difference but I'd already learnt some cello too by the first time I played viola so it was a sinch.

@CalemBendell How could the size tire you out? As for where I'm buying it, the place I'm buying it from is a local guitar shop that buys used instruments. But when it comes to anything beyond a drum or guitar the staff has no clue about. It's for about 200 US dollars and guess a 17 inch. Never played one before but for the price it's a good start.

@ClueLou It changed how much sound you can get from it and how much you need to stretch your fingers. Pretty much same principle as Violin. Small instruments don't generally get as good a sound. I was actually going to get a 17'' but it would've been tiring to play. You probably would just want to ask the person you're buying from or your instructor to help you choose one of the right size and make sure it's comfortable. Quality matters a lot more than size though.
