Oct. 7th 2010, Lake Erock BC. Preview clip from the 1st APP public input meeting for the new proposed gravel mining regulations in BC.. Are residents pleased with this new document, do they feel that anyone is listening to their many concerns, including health issues with Toxic Silica Dust flooding the valley. Minister responsible for mines "Randy Hawes" was not present as he was away on holidays..

  • Good Speach Reg , i live in England and i am going to pass this video on to as many people as possible, because it seems the same kind of thing is going on the whole world over and it needs more people to say NO ,good luck with your fight Reg

  • Your Council should take note what happened in the North of Western Australia at Wittenoom. That town endured Asbestos mining and many lives have been lost from people who lived and worked there due to Mesothelioma. That town is really un-inhabitable now although a few won't leave, when they do it will be a ghost town. The Company responsible has been sued big time and it will continue. Silica Dust could have the same damaging effects, after all it's all some form of dust. Take Note and wake up.

  • Gooooo Reg! Fantastic to see someone speaking up like this for his community. Wish we had more like Reg here in the UK. Good luck with the fight and keep posting the videos.

  • That was a speech and a half. I may be over the other side of the pond ,but I would like to be kept up to date on this.

    John Evans.

  • I should have maybe pointed out in my post that the mining they want to do in Queensland is Bauxite.

  • Hope the Company is shut down for the peoples health and well being, we have this sort of thing in England now and again, with Politicians lying and saying things like "It's money and jobs for the local community!" Bullshit!

    Harry

  • Appalling that Companies only think of the dollar and not the people and Environment. Same thing happening here in Oz in the Far North of Queensland. If the mining goes ahead they will ruin the rain forest, habitat and a pristine river which is possibly the most pristine in the world. It is just despicable. Well done Reg and hope your fight for your rights is heard before the damage is done.

  • Keep fighting, Reg. I hope someone listens before it's too late. Unfortunately, to large companies, dollars are more important than peoples health, and local Government all to often sell their souls to the devils.

  • I truly hope and pray that common sense somehow becomes part of this issue. We can not allow gravel mines to be located within 3 miles of human habitat, waterway, reservoir, or watershed. The provincial goverment must take this APP back to the drawing board, and re-work it, but this time, include residents, DFO, and DOE. We all know that gravel mines are needed, but they have to be located in areas that are satisfactory to all concerned. I am sorry for the swearing, but it gets very frustrating

  • EXCELLENT footage! Keep the clips coming! We need to spread the word asap to all Fraser Valley/BC residents about the disastrous APP report/recommendations shoved down our throats and the Liberal dictatorship implementing it without public consultation and due process! We must stand up for our democratic rights since the APP will affect BC for at least 100 years, that we know of so far. Go back to the drawing board and re-write the BC Mines Act to protect BC RESIDENTS, NOT the CORPORATIONS!
