Stefano Cagol's permanent installation of public art.
"CHESS TIME, TIME INFLUENCE" is a 211 square feet chess platform on marble in the middle of the green of a city park.
Words about time are diffusely engraved on black & white marble, in Italian and German language as the two cultures of this border region.
It's part of a City project about 'urban time'.
This chess platform will be used by the chess club of Bolzano that will organize matches and courses for people!
The project is born thinking on the idea of Marcel Duchamp to abandon art for chess game for ten years!! ...a real reflection on 'time', on how it stretches or not in daily life!
And the engraved words on time in Italian and German language...
underline also the confrontation between the two different cultures that are playing from many years in this area on the 'edge'.
The installation is produced thanks to the support of Josef Dalle Nogare... and will be given as gift to the city of Bolzano.
ART INSTALLATION COMMISSIONED BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF BOLZANO AND SUPPORTED BY JOSEF DALLE NOGARE COLLECTION.
