And in that same year of 1962, another graphic designer named G. Dean Smith gave birth to the "circle 7" logo that debuted on KGO-TV in San Francisco and spread to the other ABC O&O's.
Yes, that's right because I saw two videos for "I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" on here, a Fall Preview promo(from about early September, 1962) which did show the old logo, but, the closing credits from the actual show(from October, 1962) which did show the new Circle logo when "This Has Been an ABC Presentation" was shown, which means they switched over the ABC logo when the '62-'63 season began. It was designed by Paul Rand, who also designed the IBM, UPS, and Westinghouse logos.
This logo was replaced by the big 'A' logo in 1957, which was also used only for a few years, before being replaced once again by the long lived, present circle logo in 1963.
This must have been used between 1953 and 1957, which was during the time that the "American Eagle" ABC Television Network(As it was called out at the time) was in use. This happenes to be one of the ABC Closing logos at the time with a different announcer, and among the other few ABC TV Closing logos.

Looks like it would have made a good beer logo.

Ads from ABC used that "Big 'A' " logo as early as late 1956, while the current circle was seen in ads beginning in late 1962.
