am i the only one who laughed their ass off when they saw metal sonic's face break when they played this? XD anyways, not trying to join/start the classic music debate between the US and Jap version, but i love both the same. i think the Japanese version fits because it sounds like a criminal is on the loose and is being chased or something. the US version is great too because it has that "end of the world/ you're gonna die" feel to it.

That was quick. The fastest time I had achieved was 1'09''68.

So....(From the description)
If your ahead of Metal Sonic all the time, you suffer ear-rape.
If your not ahead of Metal Sonic all the time, you will die by Eggman's rainbow beam.
There's no good side to winning nor losing, except you surivive when winning but comes close to near being deaf upon doing so.
Sucks. D:

Yea, part of the reason they don't feel the same anymore. Way too many characters in it too since the saturn days.
Here's to hoping project needlemouse takes the music oldschool.

I guess if I heard the original Japanese/European soundtrack before the North American soundtrack 17 years ago, I'd probably feel the same way. By the way, the reason Sega of America changed the soundtrack was because they felt North American gamers wouldn't like the techno/pop music at the time.
I also agree with you on the current state of Sonic music. It's too anime-like nowadays.

Metal sonic got owned because this level is played well... Its actually quite difficult the first few times you play.

Yea he did a good job. I just prefer the originals. Most likely just down to them being in the game the first few times i played.
...and why doesnt sonic game music sound like this anymore? :( ...

Was this even a "race"? because MS got Suppa Pwned!
In my opinion, I think the North American version's soundtrack is judged WAY too harshly. To be fair, Spencer Nielsen tried his hardest to fit his soundtrack to the tone of the levels, and I think he did a good job. And, yes, I like the Japanese/European version's soundtrack as well.
