I think he is making it a bit more mainstream so it will catch on to a wider audience. I saw him preform it live on Friday night and he did it the old way and the new way which made it even more dramatic. Give it a chance, you'll see :)

For the coca cola version, he said that now it's not just his song it's all the people's song. I'm paraphrasing of course. K'naan got balls if he let all those singers sing for haiti and the world cup. That song was something that he wrote when he was little and he let others just redo it. hearing the recorded version of waving flag was utterly disappointing after watching him perform this, far, far, far superior version live at glastonbury in 2007. I hate the troubadour version!!!!!!!!!!
