That's true, even I admit that. But what some people don't realise is that in the heat of battle it's very hard to make choices, you have to assace(sp?) the situation(sp?) consider you r options and choose the best action to take, and all in under a second, and even then it may turn out the out come wasn't the one you wanted, adding the pressure of such a choice just show touph Hot Rods position at the time REALLY was.

I know he was trying to do the right thing, and that it would have destroyed the whole movie if he shot and killed Megatron instead of tackling him. Which is where it becomes pointless to argue much as the writers clearly were not interested in a story that made sense. Hot Rod had to be there so that prime would die so he could take over. It would have been cool if Optimus blasted Megatron and while walking away fell from his injuries. That way no stupidity, and Optimus wins :D

They are fucking robots, if the junkions so easily put Ultramagnus together after he was blown apart it makes no sense why the couldn't fix Optimus. And in the tv series Spike and his father repaired the autobots from time to time as well.

Spike didn't know how to screw a lightbulb. It was his father Sparkplug that was the mechanic. The experts for repairs were Ratchet, Wheeljack, and Hoist, as well as Sparkplug. In fact in one episode it took Ratchet, Wheeljack and Sparkplug to fix Optimus. With Ratchet and Wheeljack out of the picture, Optimus was basically done for. The damage done to Optimus was different than what was done to Ultra Magnus.

What does spike from the 80's have to do with spike from 2005? After all he was 14 years old when the animated series started. The Junkion put Ultramagnus together when he was blow to pieces! He was hit with the full impact of Cyclonus and his entire armada and Galvatron.
