Just did a dry set up of my 29 gallon reef tank and 15 gallon sump/refugium. I still need glass baffles to make chambers for sump, i need lighting system for the show tank, i need flex tubing to set up the overflow, and i also need a skimmer. So close yet so far lol

  • welcome to, as they say, the dark side =) glad you're finally getting your SW tank up.

  • @gprime22 yea im excited just finished putting the baffles into the sump tank today it looks good ganna test it out in a couple days for leaks and i gatta pick up the hosing to test the whole tank out for a power outage overflow...hopefully ill be in the clear then i can run it in the house and start cycling it...how are your clownfish getting along i would like to get a black and white and a regular like yours

  • @macruzjr perfectly fine, probably because they are the same species just different colours. Although i have seen a pair of ocellaris with pink skunks.

  • @gprime22 Gotcha i did a water run the other night it was bitter sweet, everything worked great got a steady level in the top tank and sump tank, but when i did a power out test the sump didnt have enough room to hold the run off from the top tank...my plan to fix it is drill another whole in the sump and have it lead to another container behind the tank it only needed an extra gallon or two so ill probebly just get a long shaped container

  • that's why im doing internal 2 internal overflows 1 in each corner of my 120g.

i don't trust the ones with the overflow drilled into the side of the tank, usually doesnt sit high enough.

can't you just reduce the amount of water in your sump? or will there be not enough water with all your pumps and what not running.

  • @gprime22 i didnt think of that....that might work ill give that a try but i do need a high water volume in the tank cause im ganna run aquaclear 50's in the sump filled with bio media thanks for the idea ill give it a test, i still might drill it again anyway just for an emergancy failsafe...i kno if it ever overflows i would have to move out or take it down lol
