  • No, I believe there's a difference between the D'Arce and the Anaconda choke in that with the Anaconda your Bicep will be on his nek and with the D'arce your forearm is on his neck. The First thing he shows is an Anaconda choke. The rest of the movie he explains the D'Arce. To bad there's no subtitle Aoki is really a superb grappler and his videos are amazing!

  • i love how he shows the mechanics of the chocke, i dont speak a word of japanies and i undesteand everything he is trying to say.

  • Oh wow, it's French? I couldn't understand how to spell it.. I mean, my instructor in Krav Maga, who also teaches BJJ said "D'arce" but said "The D'arce Choke.. It's called the D'arce choke because it was invented by Dars Vader." Concequently he has an Israeli accent.

  • @youngcoaco D'arce is from engeland Brabo Choke is from brazilië shutup if you dont know

  • AOKI THE BEST OF THE BEST FOREVER

  • @ph33ric That's the sign of a good grappler.

  • huh ??

  • @xkrypton That's what my post starts with, stating that both are different. The first grip he shows is a regular anaconda grip (where his opponent is on all fours), He only shows the grip though and does not finish the hold but goes on to the D'arce (also called Brabo) choke. The holds he finishes are indeed D'arce chokes and not Anaconda's

  • @fightingdutchman wrong. he only shows the darce. anaconda is completely different.

  • Great technique. I don`t get why people argue so much about the names. Here in Brazil most instructors would just name darce, brabo and anaconda as arm triangle variations.

  • @fightingdutchman Yeah, the difference between the two chokes is that with the Anaconda choke the arm of the opponant is on the same side that you clasp the figure four when the brabo is the opposite. (I use the original name for the choke[Brabo Choke] because D'arce sounds too fruity=p)

  • I don't understand whatever the fuck he said but I figure out that if he comes to make a seminar I'll understand because he is really clear.

  • thats the most retarded thing i have ever heard

  • Drysdale uses it a lot, he also calls it a Brabo choke.

  • Bas???

  • nice

  • I believe it is a Brabo choke. It has been used for a long time, one day a guy from a famous academy starts using it a lot and it's renamed the Darce. Kind of unfair in a way if you ask me.

  • big difference between annaconda and darce chokes.. japanese neckties resemble the darce + leg trap

  • good job man

  • This is also an excellent failsafe to the guillotine, in case the opponent resists and shifts to the outside, or if you can't grab him etc, because of the gi etc... Excellent move!!!

  • thats really cool!! after ive mastered portuguese --japanese is my next language for sure!!

  • PAS MAL COMME VARIANTE

  • Also known as an Anaconda choke if I'm not mistaken.
