Kingdom Hearts 1: Riku/Ansem 2 no damage/special attacks

To execute this strategy, you need Dodge Roll, Guard, Counterattack, and 1 Combo Plus ability. Blitz is also very helpful, since it knocks him back a bit further than the normal finisher.

Riku/Ansem (or Rikuhort, if you prefer =P) is programmed to counter your combos after every 4 hits (at the beginning of the battle, he'll counter with his 2-hit dashing slash). If the 4th hit is a finisher--which it always will be with 1 Combo Plus--you have enough time to Guard the counter, then use Counterattack after Guard to combo him again.

Once you take off about 1/8 of his yellow HP bar, he'll start countering with his spinning attack, then he'll follow up with the usual dash slash attack. This only requires you to alter your tactics a little bit; after you finish a combo on him, Dodge Roll away to avoid the spinning attack, then Guard+Counterattack like you did before. Repeat as needed.

Using this method, you can get and keep him in a loop where he's forced to use the same 1-2 attacks over and over again. He won't even be able to use his super attack.

2) Do you have a keychain with the "difficult to deflect" property (like the Olympia) equipped?

Using Guard, Counterattack, 1 Combo Plus, and Blitz, you can keep him from doing anything more than the attacks you see here.

And really, he's not that hard to deal with when he powers up, either.

Yeah, Riku's special stuffs didn't happen in the video because the player/sora kept hitting him, so Riku wasn't able to do his special attacks.

I guess.

If you have one Combo Plus equipped (4-hit combo, in other words), Riku reacts to your combos in the exact same way every time (he changes it up slightly at about 75% of his yellow bar). With Guard, Counterattack, Combo Plus, and Blitz, you can get him into a loop and he won't be able to use most of his attacks.

Man, I miss this game. KHII and BbS were easy to do no damage runs on, but this one just had the right level of challenge to it.

About the fight, I usually get my combo interrupted before I ever pull off the finish, his stun frame would end before the third hit, then he would hit me before I could react. :/
