  • It looks like brass to me. I would say definitely not gold. Better luck next time HH

  • Hi Billy, I'm not 100% sure, but if it was solid gold it should be extremely bright and completely untarnished. As has been suggested, if it was gold, it should have gold marks on it and be quite heavy for its comparative size. I hope it is gold, but my gut tells me otherwise. Hope you're lucky :D

  • Hey Billy. You should get your self a gold testing kit, quite cheap off ebay. It looks plated to me but I hope for you its gold. especially in these tough times. Tom

  • My guess would be gold plated....... the weight might be an indicator as well. Are there any small figures or letters inside? maybe a magnifier might reveal? 'au' or some identifiable 'gold' number?? I'm sure a jeweler will be able to help you Billy. Good luck mate!

  • Should be a nice find , if its gold but the inside of most old watches is mostly copper or brass and plated tinmetal , but you know the trick with the magnet.

  • not sure if it's gold or not . Wish i knew Billy , i love pocket watches but don't know much about them . i'm sure someone will be able to help :) keep up with the great videos and HH!
