If your computer comes in contact with data that didn't originate from your computer, or was from your computer, but then altered on another computer, yes.

But if it doesn't come into contact with data not from the computer then no.

You have a Mac. A Mac is very secure. Just not invulnerable. And in the majority of cases I've seen where people get viruses, it's because they weren't actively trying NOT to get viruses.

It's almost like not locking your doors. As long as the phrase "we expected something like this to happen" exists, you just need to take precautions.
