You have a Mac. A Mac is very secure. Just not invulnerable. And in the majority of cases I've seen where people get viruses, it's because they weren't actively trying NOT to get viruses.
It's almost like not locking your doors. As long as the phrase "we expected something like this to happen" exists, you just need to take precautions.
