Did the gym change from pearl to platinum? I don't remember that gym at all (puzzle wise)

Back in the fire red days I am pretty sure you didn't need to leave the area and return, you could just beat the trainers, vs seeker them, beat them, vs. seeker them over and over again (well of course not if they didn't feel like battling but eventually after a few uses they would)
