@piratenerd0799 so yeah, in the sense that the rappers, even with real lyrical content, are not musicians because they dont play with real instruments (although there are a few who do like The Roots or Rage Against The Machine who combines metal and rap together real well) i do think some that are lyrically thought provoking and creative with their words can be considered legitimate poets. Well thats all im gonna say about that. Hope u take what ive said into some serious consideration:)

@piratenerd0799 better yet, go listen to immortal technique's dance with the devil. those are just a few of many examples of rappers who have meaning rhymes and rhymes with real subject matter.

@piratenerd0799 the thing about (some) rap is its a musical genre that is heavily based around the lyrics and rhymes, which is why there is no real serious instrumentation going on like rock or jazz. You focus entirely on the rhymes/lyrics that is put over a minimalistic beat, and while yes most rappers nowadays arent really talking about shit, there are SOME rappers who do have meaning in their rhymes. Go listen to diabolic's the truth pt.2 or 2pac's brenda's got a baby if u think im lying.
