The I-90 Homer Hadley Floating Bridge opened to traffic in 1989, carrying the westbound lanes and center roadway. Since that time the expansion joints have continued to crack and deteriorate, requiring constant maintenance. To help protect drivers, we will replace the aged and worn expansion joints on the westbound bridge and center roadway. The center roadway will be closed from May 4 - 23. All westbound traffic will use the mainline. The westbound mainline will be closed from July 5 - 28.
what is the point of a floating bridge? is it cheaper then a regular bridge? Also what happens when the lake rises from rain?
