  • The thing i hate about demonstrations is that they don't show the resistance.... I really wish i could find a video where i could see aikido in a real fight

  • looking at videos without actual training, you just wont understand, try training in karate and aikido, make the effort, then will see the truth, both are complimentary, and these demonstrations are the best ive seen.does your sport have a method for weapons attack,or is it just a sport with rules, the reality of defence is to train and train ,until it becomes you ,not trawling the web

  • @Mrdevandude If there were actual appications in a real fight .... someone would get hurt!

  • @Mrdevandude If you try to resist, you 'll be seriously injured. In fact, there are contra- techniques, but you must be very skillfull aikidoka to use them.

  • @BFerreira82 - From an MMA practitioners point of view, our method of training continues to evolve where traditional martial arts follow a strict doctrine. MMA in itself is no art, has its flaws, but its a system of training that can turn just about anybody into a fighter. MMA creates fighters, not philosophers or spiritualist. There are no forms, kata or anything that does not apply directly to fighting.

  • @BFerreira82 - You're assuming that the BJJ practitioner doesn't know any better and that he does not have the skills to throw his opponent head first into concrete. Pulling guard on the street is useless agreed, but it is a last resort if you find yourself on the ground somehow. There are varying levels of guard positions to protect against groin strikes and joint breaking techniques that take a second to execute.

  • @Mrdevandude You won't find it with Aikido... You should train how you want to react and you react how you train. How can you know if a technique would be effective or not if it's not practiced realistically?!?

  • Put every Japanese martial Arts together and You get Chinese Kung Fu

  • @tomgunc Let´s see how SPORT BJJ will be looked 20 years from now! With all those crazy guards and not so good street effective moves. "Pulling guard ?! Ok here Goes a Slam on concrete for you LOL" Maybe the most effective martial art will become the most uselless martial art. Things come and go, and you just have to be smart and use what´s usefull. Aikido at least teaches how to become a better human being and gives one character. Most MMA fanboys on the other hand...LOL

  • there are some out there who cant see the value of avoiding getting hit,or the precise meaning of atemi. in aiki it is to divert ki,like a boxing feint,in karate you would be striking a vital point,to control, jeet kune do would not discount it.indeed to quote ip mans son everything that comes from my fist is wing chun, think or get hurt.
