@FarnhazenBrep - Too bad Tex drank that bad WATER ( ironic that it wasn't bad hootch! ) in late 1933. I think she would have remained a presence and influence in '30's and '40's films.

Oh, yes. Thank goodness we have some of these people on film. A notorius real-life >female< speakeasy owner living life her way in the 1920s and 30s.

Inncorrect comment below that Lucille Ball and Ann Sothern were in the chorus of this picture; Ann was a BIG STAR in her own films by 1933 and Lucille Ball worked for another studio at that time.

Isnt this the film Al Jolson got angry about and hit someone,due to the strong similarity between the plot and Ruby Keelers life?Do you have the "you were the girl on the scooter" number from the film?
