  • Gutted Pete, you can really hear the emotion in your voice. What were you employed as in the hospital?

  • I was a Cadet Nurse - Student Nurse - Staff Nurse - Night Nurse!

  • Great video, it's a beautiful location that i myself have visited numerous times. Saddens me to see it in such a state, especially since the hall burnt down that.

  • Needed to put it back on with audio after Youtube kindly wiped it.

  • An excellent video Peter, well done

  • Thanks Mark.

  • very heartwarming xxx

  • Hi Peter. I've tried to send you a message, but there's a lock from messaging you. Is there any way I can message you?

  • Peter this is such a beautifully made, moving and reticent film. I can't believe how instiutions like these, into which people put so much energy and effort, are left to rot. I witnessed this firsthand when exploring Talgarth hospital near Brecon, which is derelict and rotting, but you can still see what a magnificent building it once was and the community that must have existed there must have meant so much to patients and staff. All the memories just left to rot....shameful

  • Hi Peter, I saw this magnificent building from the viewpoint of Denbigh Castle last weekend - it looked too large to be a Jacobean hall. The attendant at the castle told us what it was and that although there were plans to convert it to flats, they'd been halted. She also wryly commented that there would be no one local to buy them due to the lack of jobs in the area!

  • @jessicacute321

Yeah, very easily, although you have to watch out for the groundsman and his epic beard.

It's worth checking out, but I strongly advise staying outside. The inside areas are very tempting, but dangerous. The ceilings are very dodgy and some of the concrete floors have rotted, revealing hidden basements.

  • can u still get in now as i really want to see the magnificent buliding

  • @peterglynnfilms. Is the building not listed? and why have'nt the National Trust or English Heritage stepped in. Surely this is part of UK history, not just because of the age of the building but because of what it helped achieve in the way of medicine!

  • ....and not pulled down so developers can make some money and then go home far away after they have destroyed a part of an areas heretige.

We can't build these kind of buildings anymore, so they need to be protected. We've already lost Penrhos College and Rhos Abbey around my way in recent years to be replaced by giant shoe boxes. And that's not to mention all the more modest buildings like homes being pulled down that had so much charactor.

  • I want to win the Euro-Millions jackpot and save this building. I'd buy it off the developers and restore it completely. My mum worked.

All old buildings should be preserved and restored at all costs. Developers seem to have an attitude that it's o.k. to knock these old buildings down as they are plentiful, but with that attitude the day will eventually come when they'll be none left. Each old building has an individual charactor and each one needs to be saved........
