First engine start up!

Doesnt leak oil anymore, or coolant, or what ever else. It's a miracle!

And it only took me four years to get this far hahaha.

  • how did you wire the vvti solinoid?pls.lmk, thanks

  • @drifterboi95

How do you mean? It's running the standard ECU, all plugs are standard, including airflow meter and VVTI solenoid.

  • what the camshaft spec on this engine? are they standard? if so VERY AWESOME!

  • @motegi45

Yep, standard cams... The VVTI engines have quite grunty cams from factory, but the VVTI smooths out the power delivery a bit, makes it idle nice. Can give it a bit of a grumpy idle still though, quads make it sound a bit more rowdy at idle I think haha.

  • i fucking love it man send me some links to your motor build please im starving for information.

    thanks

Hey. The motor is pretty standard. It's a redtop beams 3SGE engine from a 1998 gen 5 SW20 MR2. Bought the motor blown, so had it rebuilt with standard parts again, just everything balanced and .5mm oversized pistons. Converted to 'rwd' configuration by bolting on an Altezza sump, Altezza copy HKS extractors, quad throttle manifold with blacktop 4AGE throttle bodies, cusco flywheel, 6 speed box. That's it really.

  • you use the MAF sensor?

  • whats your set up for itbs?? i cant find any for my 3sge

  • Aaahhh I'm not sure what you mean?

Do you mean how the engine runs down the length of the car, instead of across the engine bay?

This car is rear wheel drive, so it needs to go that way.

It would be 'sideways' if it was in a front wheel drive car, or in the back of an MR2, which both run a different type of gearbox and diff compared to front engined rear wheel drive cars.

  • question why did you mount it sideways apposed to the normal mounting position. looks like i can fit perfectly
