The Red Paintings hit the studio with New York producer Tidy Kid and the Sea Shepherd crew members the night before the crew left for Antarctic waters to tackle Japanese whaling ships. The recording is an important statement for the Sea Shepherd's Operation Musashi campaign made through song and it is a statement that they want the whole world to hear.

Local artists Maaike Johnson, Moogie Blyth and Adele Walker were in the studio when the band recorded this song, painting the experience on canvas.

The song and the paintings will be released in January 2009 on a limited edition 7" white vinyl with a remix of the band's latest single, "We Belong in the Sea". Only 150 copies will be pressed. Stay tuned for ordering information.

  • @pleza1 ALL whaling below 60 degrees is illegal. and dose anyone really believe that they r there for "research" its total bullshit! and they kill between 700 to 900 or more whales a year. the species they kill are endangered!!! once populations fall below a certain amount, it is hard for a species to come back from that. if 700 or more whales are killed a year, OF COURSE they would die out!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sea Shepherd risk their lives to save an endagered species and I admire them so much for it ! They at least dare to stand up to global ignorence against animal abuse for profit.

And I do find the song appropriate to match the trailer.

  • @pleza1 Give me a break... The Sea Shepherd doesn't go out trying to hurt human beings. What about the Japanese ship smashing the Ady Gil to pieces? It's also the Japanese fleet's choice to go down there and whale illegally. Stop being a hypocrite.

  • @acksailor The Sea Shepherds are down there alone by choice. They could take a fleet too. The idea none the less of leaving someone dead in the water ASSuming they have backup is the same as shooting someone and then calling 911 for them ASSuming help will get there in time. You have no guarantee of the outcome. Even making the effort to do something so dangerous is plain wrong on every level, and it risks human lives. No matter how much you sugar coat it, it's akin to attempted murder.

  • The Japs have loads of backup. No one was ina ANY danger of their life. Stop talking claptrap. They were just slowed down killing whales illegally. yes illegally. so in my mind Sea shepherd were just enforcing the law. sadly our governments aren't. So power to sea Shepherd I say.

  • Meh, I think Its a good song though you gotta admit

  • Song doesn't fit the lyrics - it feels forced and the calamity of the music fails to evoke the appropriate emotions

  • If you truley care about something you will risk your life for it. And thats why we do what we do

  • We were reffering to that we have no backup, the Yushin Maru have a whole fleet behind its back. It could get towed, we could not.
