This is my boat that I cooked the engine on 1 month prior to making this vid and I had a crack at rebuilding it myself (with help here and there from mates) as well as a few other repairs to the leg. 1991 Evinrude 70HP VRO(disconnected), now using 0.030" oversize Wiseco forged pistons. Goes like an absolute dream now with stacks of power.

I had so much fun driving it, I kinda forgot to take a vid of it actually pushing the boat in water. Next time it's in the drink I will definitely get some footage.

  • -- You must have a lot of engine knowledge to rebuild it ...

  • I'm a auto mechanic by trade but this was my 1st marine rebuild. Its all nuts and bolts.. :)

    Thanks for watching.

  • @MechanicDan69 i have the exact same boat that i just recently bought but mine is named "sr000", out of interest what is the correct name of the boat that ou have. I am also about to rebuild mine i have a 1993 murcury 90hp but i desperatly needs a rebuild.

  • @xxjasonxxxx Hey Jason.. Mine is a Hinton 45C. I'm guessing it stands for 4.5metre and the "C" stands for 'cabin'. I saw another Hinton at the ramp which was a 55s, longer than my boat without the cabin..

Rebuilding the powerhead, getting the boat back in the drink and taking it for its first run was very rewarding. Let me know how you go.

  • actually even if you run it for 3-8 seconds the impeller will be as good as toast. The first time it was started in this video there was no water even though the muffs where on . the water didnt come on until 30 seconds or so after it was started. later on he started it again with no water. Not smart

  • you forgot the part about using a flush head or putting the transom in water so you dont fry the impeller nuts and bolts....yeah

  • cool
