This is the 8th video in a series of Japanese language teaching videos that teach you how to write and pronounce the Chinese characters in the Japanese language. In Japanese, they're called Kanji. Hiroko-sensei, a great native Japanese teacher, will guide you through the Kanji that means "bright" in this lesson. Good luck!

  • @japanesepod101 sumimasen..does mabushi also mean bright? does it have a different kanji?

  • @flamebagh Yes, "mabushii" also means bright (to the point of being blinding), and it is written like this: 眩しい.

  • at first time I thought Kanji so difficult but now my attitude has changed

Kanji is really easy to learn (if we started from japanesepod101)

  • @DonNoypi There is another Kanji for the color red, it's 赤 so you'd just write that instead of the hiragana for aka.

  • Doumo Arigatou Gozamasu sensei-san!

  • I actually don't really understand some things: at first: is it the case, that it doesn't really matter what the On and Kun reading is because they both would be used the same way? could I just memorize both "translations" (Kanji->sound) together and mix them up without caring? and is there a practical reason why the Kanjis are still in use? to me it makes the appearance, that they don't really shorten the sentences in contrast to only hiragana, do they? :)

  • Now i how to write my favorite Jpop group BRIGHT. . .LOL

  • Interesting

  • yay i learned 8 kanji only 2992 more to go.
