A video I took of the inner workings of a 3.5" PC floppy drive reading a disk. Make sure annotations are on to find out what's going on.

  • Not bad, but a question arises: Is the first track located on the inner or outer area of the disk?

  • great video

  • Very interesting... I never knew what went on inside those drives.

  • Sounded to me like boot disk for no reason.. I always wondered how does the disk lock.. This is not anything epic, two motors, read/write head, just like car/pc cd-rom (those have 3 actually)..Nice annotations, so I'll give 5 starts..

  • its like an old harddrive

  • Verrry interesting video.

  • AWESOME. I wish someone could make some control software that would control the speed of the servo, and the amount it attempts to access the data so you could turn it into a nerdy musical instrument.
