@KAApao i feelyour pain man, but remember to get skins first, they make up 90% of the entire sound of the drums, regardless of the shells! :)

Own the song, not over play it. You keep time good, too much cymbal work. There's parts in the song where the whole band does shots on 2 that's where your cymbals should be.
In jazz/swing/blues, dynamics, and feel is important. It's a we culture.
