Roger Williams (born Louis Weertz) is an American popular music pianist who, as of 2004, has released 116 albums. Billboard Magazine ranks him as the top selling piano recording artist in history with 21 gold and platinum albums to his credit. In 1955 Williams recorded "Autumn Leaves", the only piano instrumental to reach #1 on Billboard's popular music chart. "Autumn Leaves" sold over two million copies and was awarded a gold disc. In 1966 he had another Top Ten hit with the song "Born Free" from the motion picture soundtrack. Other hits include "Near You," "Till," "The Impossible Dream," "Yellow Bird," "Maria," & "Theme From Somewhere In Time." Williams is also known as the "Pianist to the Presidents", having played for nine Presidents beginning with Harry S. Truman. His most recent White House performance was in November 2008 for a luncheon hosted by First Lady Laura Bush. Williams is the first pianist to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This selection reached #10 on the Billboard chart in 1958 and is included in several of his compilation albums.

@ texpaco I don't wanna seem rude but according to the RIAA website, Roger Williams has only had 5 certified gold albums, no certified platinum albums & no certified gold singles. He has had 2 non-certified million sellers though - Autumn Leaves in 1955 & Till in 1957. Gold singles were not certified until 1958 when the RIAA was formed.
