Janabahaa is a living heritage. It is only us - we who come to Janabahaa for a myriad of reasons - who have the ability to keep this heritage alive for the benefit of our posterity. It is us, and only us, who possess the power to sanctify the environs of Janabahaa.
The intricate courtyard complex of Janabahaa in central Kathmandu is home to Aryaavalokitesvara, one of the four Karunamayas (or the compassionate ones). He is also called the Seto (white) Machhindra Nath or Janabahaa Dyo, and is especially honoured as a deity capable of liberating all conscious beings, and for the longevity of one's life.
The Janabahaa Society aims to bring about positive changes in and around Janabahaa with the intent of solving the multitude of issues faced by this sacred neighborhood today. It is hoped that this lofty goal will be achieved eventually by increasing awareness in the community so that community members themselves will get a grasp on the problems and will come up with solutions on their own, or at least willingly participate in solutions presented to them by community leaders.
All proceeds from the sale of this film will go to Janabahaa Society.
This film is a concept of Sampurna Tuladhar.
