  • This movie was good,better than I expected,underrated movie

  • Just to clear something up, which 99% of the American public who dont serve or are not realted to anyone that served dont undertstand. You sign an enlistment contract, and agree to 8 years or service, 4 of those acitve duty and 4 on the IRR (Inactive Ready Reserve). While on the IRR you can be reacitvated, forget the senstional terms like "stop-loss". Its a fact of serving in the military, if you are reacitvated, you are still on the same contract, its not like you are on some new contract.

  • The irony is, all the Military cares about is stopping the loss of its ranks, not about stopping the loss of family members from families, or about stopping the loss of life on either side, or stopping the belligerence, or stopping the insensible foreign relations, or the loss of American credibility worldwide, or stopping the Middle East slide further into terrorism... Nothing stops the "loss" from someone's perspective. Therefore "Stop-Loss" - another dumb Amerikan Military Euphemism.

  • inadvertently caused the suicide of another tragic member of his squad.

I'm sorry, but that kind of behavior is abhorrent and does not indicate a moral and principled man like the movie wants its audience to believe.

In reality, I would be wholly supportive of getting him the help he needs and LEGALLY fighting the unjust stop-loss, but I absolutely CANNOT see him as a protagonist whom I am supposed to care for.

  • See, I enjoyed the film's opening sequence, and really liked the majority of the supporting cast, but am I alone in absolutely DESPISING the main character?

I was highly sympathetic with him in the first 20 minuets or so of the film, but as soon as he went AWOL and assaulted the two guards leading him to the stockade, I lost all respect for him.

Yes, PTSD is a driving factor, but I can't remain sympathetic towards a man who abandons the men in his squad, assaults two innocent men and

  • as the girlfriend of a man over in Iraq this movie scared the hell out of me. it was so realistic and so true that I almost couldn't watch the whole thing. It really makes you think about what happens to our soldiers while over there and when they return home.

  • i'm a republican and I saw this movie...thought it was great.

  • this was a good movie, it is bullshit to be on stop loss cause when you do your time it is time to get the fuck out of the military

  • It's a good film. I don't think it has a political agenda.

  • i kinda want to watch this movie ...

but does it have a political agenda ?
