Nearly three years after the enactment of the Dodd-Frank Act, community banks are struggling under the weight of the many, burdensome, costly, and counterproductive rules and regulations coming out of Washington. Today, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit on which I serve held a productive hearing on the state of community banking and the consequences of the current regulatory environment.

We need to work to ease the regulatory burden facing community banks, and that must include properly examining the true costs and benefits of regulations, as well as ensuring that regulators are listening to the legitimate concerns raised by community banks. I had the opportunity to question the regulators on these exact points today during our committee hearing, which you can see video of right here. I will continue to fight for our local job creators and the community banks that provide them capital in order to get Kentuckians back to work.
