  • My friend, does one require a permit to do metal detecting and a little bit digging like the one you did on a park on this video.

  • Hello Rey,.........It all depends on your area...You have to check your local ordinances....Some cities & towns have made an ordinance against detecting...Most hae not....You have to check the law in your own area...Good Luck & Happy Hunting....Ordinaces Permiting

  • @219erman My friend, what branch of government do I specifically go to, to inquire about its ordinances regarding detecting and digging tiny holes to retrieve coins?

  • ThePrayerHotline ..You can call or visit the cities local police department...Ask if there is a city ordinance against meteal detecting that cities parks..I don't see the neccesity in asking about digging holes..That comes with metal detecting...Be neat.

  • Thanks deepbeeps ,gibsondan,and

huskerdigger for your kind comments, and thanks for info on that Tax token huskerdigger. I never found one before and was curious about it.

  • You may know this info - the token is aluminum - it is a retailers occupation token, also known as a sales tax token, could be used to pay the fractional taxes that were charged on small purchases.

  • Thanks ....Do you have any idea what years they were used ? I am thinking maybe WWII era but don't know, and what does Occupation token mean ?

    Thanks for any info, Dave

  • Dave,

As always, enjoyed your video. You guys really cleaned up on the Indians. Like the token too, unusual. Thanks for taking the time to video, it was great going with you on the trip.

  • Hey Dave - I didnt know if you needed any help on the info - thanks for asking - Occupation Tax is the same today as it was in the 1930;s , businesses collect tax from us and then as business owners they pay the county the tax they collect :Illinois started the collection of sales tax via the use of fractional sales tax tokens in 1933. The sales tax token is generally found in denominations of mills or 1/10th of one cent. Your token is one of the first issued in the 1930's . Thanks my friend
