Glass does not, as you say 'copy and paste 30 second clips'. He uses small musical ideas and develops them very gradually over long periods of time. That's the style of American Minimalism. Don't like it? Don't listen to it. But the fact that you don't like it doesn't mean it's crap, or that there's no artistic merit to Glass' music.

Don't act like people who like modern music are pretentious just because you don't get off on it. That makes you look like the pretentious one.

  • @zrshwe From the Met opera shop or Amazon... but probably not until September 2013 :(

There was also a live broadcast in many movie theatres across the US and in Canada this afternoon, which will be shown as an encore January 11th.

  • @Justino111 this gives opera bad name, people should watch Carmen or Lucia di Lammermoor than this repitative crap

  • @Shepard9000 yes, Salvatore Sciarrino's opera MACBETH.

I think that answers your next 100 questions too.

  • Learn to actually enjoy watching opera while you're there, instead of distracting everyone else by filming. I can't believe you were doing this the entire time, and in the orchestra. I would have smacked you over the head.

  • Where can I buy a DVD of this version?

  • Incredible at 0:48!!!!

  • @Justino111 Can you give an example of something you view to be not superficial?

  • @Justino111 No you don't quite get it, sorry, so listen to something else, like Bah-Bah Black Sheep, The Barney Song etc. oh and most importantly, keep up that impressive mis-judgement of the fine arts you possess, it is very entertaining.

  • no, it will be quickly forgotten.

    this is bad music.

  • no, it's not like that.

I do get it. It's BAD, superficial, an amalgamation of musical cliches and redundant and irrelevant sensations.

Yes, I get it. It's bad. Even Britney Spears has more to offer.

  • masterpiece???

arpeggios over arpeggios over arpeggios following stupid, boring and shallow harmonic progressions....

    Yes, a masterpiece of IRRELEVANCE.

  • for someone who use the word "cool" to describe this masterpiece i presume that was superficial actually

  • too bad so shallow ones perception of art, you either get it or you don't. You obviously don't.

  • Thanks. An extraordinary production of an extraordinary opera. I will always remember it.
