I'd like to know the context of his home video more clearly. Yes, it may sound like he's saying that the American health care system didn't work, but he might also be saying that the hospital he went to was just awful, which is actually a way of saying, "Don't go to this hospital." And in a free market, that's what you're SUPPOSED to do: spread the word about the places that work and those that don't. Or maybe he realizes in retrospect that his case was rare. Like I said I'd like clearer context

so what happens to the people who can't choose? if a person is hit by a car, and the ambulance shows up, you think they ask the trauma victim which hospital in the state he'd like to go to? think of all of the different scenarios where everyone isn't rich and/or insured.

@C0ct0pusPrime If you're wondering why I think it's possible to misunderstand what he's saying in his home video, I'll explain. From what I could see, at no point did he say there was a need for the government to step in and improve the health care that hospital provided. What I DID see, was him saying his treatment was subpar and it opened his eyes. But WHAT did it open his eyes to? He never says. Maybe it opened his eyes to how bad our health care is, but his solutions might be different.

@Sonicisbadazz i am not concerned with glenn beck's health. he has the money to pay out of pocket for expensive surgeries where ever he wants. i am concerned with the millions of people who need medical help and can't afford it, therefore they don't get it, and asshats like beck could care less (until its him).

@C0ct0pusPrime As am I. I'm not on his side at all. Those of us with compassion are very concerned about those without health insurance.

That said I'm not sure if the people running hospitals are as cold-hearted as we sometimes imply. I'm not about to say it always happens this way but if you go into a hospital and you're injured I think chances are the doctors will treat you. Yes they will charge you for it but they will still TREAT you before expecting payment. Please correct me if I'm wrong

@C0ct0pusPrime Believe me, I'm not a Glenn Beck fan. Your scenario is a common one and it makes sense. I'm just not sure if we're taking his video and ideas in proper context. I enjoy seeing a hardcore, closed-minded political thinker get creamed either with actual logic or his/her own words/ideas, but I also think there are times when we are too quick or too misinformed when we start criticizing them. If we're going to beat extremists, we can't use the same faulty methods they do. That's all.

Please make Glenn Beck sick again. He's actually somewhat bearable with stuble and self-reflection. Even with the grainy image and sappy talk, Beck managed to make himself seem even remotely intelligent for once.

@astupid16yearold but wouldn't that be a microcosm of the healthcare system as a whole? That's how I percieved it. If one hospital is like this, what are all the others like? And i really do think he is talking about healthcare. He says it multiple times about how he saw a "piece" of what it was like. So yeah
