Wicked Wind Media chaser Brandon Sullivan was in northwest Kansas to document the first major plains snow event of Winter 2011/2012. After some precise forecasting the team ended up in a localized window of 8-11 inches across Northwest Kansas. In addition to the heavy snow, strong winds created near white out conditions at some times.
This video starts out in Norton, KS where the team started, and shows snow beginning around 6am. The snow picks up from 8-10am. The team also travels west on US HWY 36 toward Oberlin, KS.
