It's an issue that's caused anger and outrage in India and murmurings of quiet protestation from the Aussies. The question seems to be: Is Australia racist, in particular to Indian born residents?
There have been a string of violent attacks on Indian nationals in Australia since last year, with some Indian news outlets claiming these have been racially motivated.
Two cases in particular have stood out. The first was of an Indian man who claimed to have been attacked and deliberately set on fire in Melbourne. The other, the murder of Ranjodh Singh, whose badly burned body was found in December near Griffith, New South Wales.
The issue has reached government level, with Canberra sending several senior ministers to New Delhi to try to ease tensions.
However there's been a significant twist in the tale. Police have charged Jaspreet Singh, 29, of Melbourne with faking the story to back a false insurance claim. It has since transpired he was trying to set light to his own car and actually burnt himself.
In the case of Ranjodh Singh, police have charged 3 men with murder, and these men have turned out to be Indian themselves.
Victoria state Premier John Brumby has decided the time has come to speak out on the issue:
"I think I'll make a couple of comments and in a sense they go, as much as anything, to the way the Indian media and the, to a lesser extent some representatives in the Indian government, portray these events. I mean we've had a couple of issues in Australia recently. One was the tragic murder of an Indian in New South Wales. But I think the point needs to be made that the people who have been charged with that murder are both Indians. And we've had this case, which attracted a lot of attention in India, and police have charged an individual with setting fire to himself. So I hope that there is some balance to the debate, some balance to the reporting in India and certainly to date that balance hasn't been there."
Around 100,000 Indians are studying in Australia today, and it's an industry worth almost 12 billion Australian dollars a year.
@OzisGodscountry Then what about China? Is that a third world country? Australia is surrounded by Asians. Once again you try to divert and lose this. I win.

@12345668587 India IS classed as a third world nation. Is it not? State what complaining has accomplished for you, something of worthy note.
Australia is on the Asian continent is it? Really? Australia is its OWN continent idiot lol.Even in India they teach you that. Once again you are proven wrong and once again you "win" nothing" (though Im unsure exactly what you thought you had won anyway).

@OzisGodscountry The one thing you will never understand is that you will never consider a indian to be a equal. therefore making him a '' Third world peasent. '' Complaing works. It only took you 1500 comments to talk in the way you're typing. I'd say you're a '' Third world peasent'' as well because you belong in Asia. I won, you lose once again.

@12345668587 How does complaining work?It doesnt help the problem one iota but thank you for proving what I already assumed.Your the type that sits around having a sook,a cry about things in the world and thats it.Nothing changes nothing improves.Maybe thats why India is still classified as a third world country I dont know

@OzisGodscountry I have told you before. Complain actually works. It does. Your '' contribution '' will do nothing! Nothing I say! Now, I have won victory. You have lost.

@12345668587 By teaching kids to respect everyone regardless of skin colour or beliefs, its 15 kids who have the best chance to not become a racist idiot such as yourself. The "amount of racism" in the world is because of complaining people like yourself that will never do anything meaningful in life, just complain.Do you know hindi or french? I dont know or really care.

@OzisGodscountry Yeah? And? Just by teaching kids of ethichines, yeah, old news. That's nothing compared to the amount of raciism out there. Your little bit will never contribute to anything. No,I don't hate my life:) Although, you must ask me, how did I learn all this? How did I learn hindi or french or any of this?
