This beautiful song written by Dorival Caymmi an Antonio Almeida is dedicated to my good friend Alice...a late gift for her birthday :-)...and of course to all of you, music lovers who are watching!

Here are the lyrics:

Agora amor, Doralice meu bem
Como é que nós vamos fazer?

Um belo dia você me surgiu

The singer is telling his lover, Doralice, that he didn't want to fall in love with her, because love is an illusion; he'd prefer to live alone, only to the moaning sound of his guitar...he tried to run away from her love but she wouldn't let him go and now he is in trouble because he can not deny the love he feels for her.

  • Bro, I love everything you've ever posted but this one takes the cake for me... I find myself singing this throughout my day and I don't even know french, and I've certainly never heard this one before... Thanks for turning me on to something wonderful I wouldn't have otherwise have known about. *tips hat* Much obliged for all your music, Sir

  • @earthlyradiodotcom Thanks a bunch for the compliment...the language in this song is close enough to French indeed...it is Portuguese, another latin language...if you really enjoyed this, you should listen to Joao Gilberto...he is the ultimate master of this style, called Bossa Nova and born in Brazil from multiple influences (African musical roots, Brazilian Samba, Jazz chords, etc...)

    Cheers!

  • Bonjour

:-) A bientot!

  • @ioyaneder Olá ioyaneder ... muito obrigado pelo cumprimento :-) No problem, I can send you the chords...they are taken from the book "Bossa Nova Songbook" by Almir Chediak, with a few modifications I made...just send me an e-mail address where I can forward them to you!...Até logo

  • You play your guitar with precision and softness...the soul that you put into your music comes from your tune... I love your music,I love listening to you play. :)

  • Fantastic! If Getz were present with his sax I might actually believe this was from the Getz/Gilberto albumn, its that good.

  • Will check him out for sure! I've always really loved the song "Girl from Iponema" which I believe would be considered bossa nova, but haven't been exposed much to the genre otherwise.. Thanks for the recommendation I will set aside some time to listen to some Joao Gilberto soon!

  • wonderful as usual..
