Blue Peter Michael Jackson Memorabilia 21/4/88

From the 21 March 1988 edition with Mark Curry, Yvette Fielding & Caron Keating beginning with a nice segment devoted to Phillips Rock & Pop memorabilia auction which was held a few days later in London. Among the items shown in the studio are: Michael Jackson's shoes & costumes, Elvis Presley jewellery, Led Zeppelin's drum kit and for Beatles fans - an interesting early letter from John Lennon, some displays from the Yellow Submarine premiere (& newsreel footage) and also a home movie clip of the Rolling Stones performing at the 1964 Richmond Jazz & Blues Festival. All worth 10 times more today! If there are any for fans of 'Education Canadian style' it all beings with a trailer for 'Degrassi Junior High' and Andy Crane in the broom-cupboard.

It's funny, the 60's seemed more distant then in 1988 than it does now. Quite a feat considering in 1988, 1964 was as far away as 1985 is now! If we see footage of the Who or the Stones from that era now it's usually some rubust colour film footage with decent quality sound and all, you could actually imagine being there. Here they used ropey broadcast-quality black and white footage, sort of forcing nostalgia.
