  • I looked at this video and admired the clarity of the presentation and technical accuracy, but something bothered me about it. I figured out what it was and it's that the "why" to completing the square. The reason to complete a square is to solve a quadratic equation or to graph a conic section or something like that and without a goal as context, completing the square seems pointless. If it just started with an "= 0" on the right side, then it could go someplace. Thanks.

  • you could go further....

    square root both sides and get x+5=square root 33

    then subtract 5 on both sides x=-5 + or - square root 33

    Then if square root 33 could go down which i dont think it can and that would be your answer..
