Oscar has been trained to "fetch" using clicker training.I have been working at speeding up the rate of run-out and return. He is improving but has a long way to go!

  • wow love all of your videos, does it take a long while, and does the same principle work with alpacas?

  • Thank you for your kind comments. I would think that the average llama would learn to retrieve as quickly as the average dog...though I've never tried it with a dog. And yes, though I dont own an alpaca, I would think they are equally trainable as llamas. But I'm guessing here.Jim Logan certainly trained alpacas to do all sorts of things, like putting video cassettes into the slots to play them.

  • that is so cute!!!!

  • I appreciate your comment, razrbladefaerie.

  • great! I have a fetching pony but fetching llama ist much more better ;-)

  • But what, oh what, does your pony fetch? And how?

  • How charming1

  • they so love to play, it's so cute! Can't wait for more videos!

  • i cant even train my dog to fetch and your Llama does it!! lol

  • Loved the video! I have a sheep I clicker train and am really wanting to teach her to fetch. (She already does a little dance, jumps through a hoop, rings a bell, and plays her little piano and drum.)

Would you mind explaining how you went about the "fetch"? I can get her to pick up the object (a glove) but that's about as far as we get.

Should I work on getting her to hold it in her mouth first? Help! I'm at a loss!

    Thanks!

    pam

  • lol. your welcome. when i finally get a dog i hope i can train it as well as your llama. :)
