...Probably because it's modes. Modal Jazz is based on using modes rather than chord harmonics for solos.

Hello, quick question: how good are the pure nickel strings? I use XL nickel wound strings but the plain steel strings eat my NS frets. I think that with nickel strings the nickel silver frets will live more. Why do you choose your strings? they sound more warm?

Yeah, I prefer the warmer sound. The past year I have used GHS 12-52 or D'Addario 12-54 (EJ-21). Both have a wound G-string.

Do you have some treble rolled off to get that big mellow jazzbox tone? I assume the Hagsrom is more of an ES335 size judging by the video.

Youre right about the 335 size. Treble is somewhat rolled off but the "magic" is created when played through the Roland Jazz Chorus.
