Snake Bite (better quality)

Me getting bitten by a garter snake...they almost never bite!!! I happen to find one that did.

Well garters try to bite me all the time but I've never been bit as of yet. The Eastern garters seem to be the most aggressive. What did it feel like? Judging by your reaction it was at least somewhat painful.

@OsirisIX ...It was a surprise....felt like getting scraped with stiff sandpaper. Have caught and released(unharmed)many snakes this one just happened to be a bit nasty.

I tell people all the time, just because a snake is non-poisonous does not mean it will not bite you. If it feels threatened enough it will bite if it can. As mentioned, garter snakes are usually pretty docile and easy to handle. I have handled a lot of snakes and have found that some of the same same species can have very different attitudes and behaviors.

the western garter snake here are calm most of the time if they're disturbed or feeling threatened they WILL bite for example lifting the rock and dragg the snake out

I would bite you too from taking me out of my nice hiding place and provoking me if I were a Garter. You gotta respect them and they will respect you. Try petting it to let it know your gentle and they enjoy that much more. Recently captured a 3 ft long Garter snake, Eastern, and they are friendly. Don't go after the red striped Garter though, they bite worse then that 1 you had.

@KennethMixson There are actually no poisonous snakes. You can eat any of them just fine! ;) I agree, snakes can be aggressive, no matter the species. I've been knawed on by a garter or two, but I deserve it for making him think I was going to eat him.

my garters bite me more than any snakes in my collection and trust me i have some pretty aggrezive species snakes... but its funny cause it feels like sand paper barely touches you doesnt hurt at all
