Pardes. Recorded in Manchester.

Thanks to Antoine Dufour for his inspiration for this song, his beautiful music and wonderful playing.

Pardes is an acronym for the four levels of meaning of Torah. 1) P is for Pshat - the plain meaning 2) R is for Remez - allusion 3)D is for Drush - ethical 4) Sod - mystical. The four levels are progressively deeper perspectives of reality. Rabbi Danny Bergson and Rabbi Mitch Goodman adapted this song utilising polyrhythms, where rhythms that would seem to conflict are played simultaneously, expressing the notion that all four levels express a larger truth that is impossible to understand from just looking at one level in isolation.

This is the new face of Jewish Music, this is SAPPIR. sappir@hotmail.co.uk

  • Sorry but its a Antoine Dufour songs with little variation, hope he really knows that ;You should have put HIS name in the Title By the Way, It's "No Name for Love Song" in his candyrat Album "Naissance"

  • Thanks - please see the text about the video and the note below. You will see that not only is Antoine credited but he is also fully aware and approves.

  • The melody is ripped right off no name for love bridge.

Even though you put your own parts in there, you also pulled off the base chords off antoine's music and just strummed your own part.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't say this is "Pardes" This is just a simple cover with an improvisation.

  • Hi, thanks for your comment. We sought and received Antoine's approval to use his melody and make no excuses for using his amazing bridge. Antoine is credited here, was credited at the concert and will continue to be credited wherever appropriate. Antoine has no problem with the arrangement that Danny & Mitch have put together. It is not intended to be a cover but uses the orinal melody and re-arranges on top. Thanks again for your comment.
