  • She would have been much comfier than Jackie, on her un-refurbished CEP. They were luxurious!

  • @ThePrestonChannel yep - how we all bemoaned them back then - but the state of the railway today . . . my god, give me back 70's rail any day.

  • 0:30 Mr Bean car!

  • the good old days of british rail !

  • @vkman34

Hmmmmm. Petrol is more expensive now than it was then so skews the figures. Also if as many people used the train then as do now (because our roads are so clogged) fares would have been far cheaper then. making direct comparisons isn't that straightforward. However, at least you were guaranteed a seat in 1976 as they didn't skimp on carriages to make a few pounds more profit for shareholders...

  • @MsEla62 Don't get too nostalgic. This ad says there were 3 trains an hour back then from Sevenoaks to Charing Cross. Today, there are 6 trains an hour on that route. The cheapest return fare today is GBP10.20 which is still much cheaper than driving in. So really the rail service on this line is much better today than it was in 1976.

  • Hatti was amazing.

  • @kingmush3602 ~chuckles~

  • Bless her *8-)
