@Janusha Many things are money making industries, but most are more open about it. The education system always plays the martyr role ("It's for the children!") despite empirical evidence that it is huge business. But I believe it's true purpose, beyond making money, is to exert more and more control over each successive generation. Freedom is the enemy to the public education system because free people think for themselves. That's why "educrats" hate charter schools and homeschooling.

Arguably any aspect of america is a multibillion dollar business. Would be hard not to with 310 million people. Seeing it from the outside however... It seems quality of life in USA these days is whatever the different institutions / providers can get away with rather than not whats best according to needs or... reason.
If the leaders arent thumping their bible, they are waving the flag. Shouting best in the woooorld inspite of staggering evidence to the contrary.

@Janushahe few that make it through unscathed are the exception, the rest are successfully indoctrinated. There's always a small percentage that don't buy into it and "see the light".
And BTW, education is a HUGE business. It is a multi-billion dollar industry that starts in pre-k and goes through college. Two-thirds of my astronomical property tax bill goes to a failing school system and I have no choice in the matter. Politicians profit greatly, though indirectly. It's legal money laundering

Weell.. not really.. You see. The people that are ment to DO stuff and GET somewhere in life. Are in different private schools. The rest who are at the governments mercy are pretty much on their own... In general... in america... these days. Basically america is broke. Lets face it. When 50 US cities declare bankruptcy, america is broke. And since education, healthcare, social stuff, doesnt DIRECTLY generate money, its discarded. Except in the long term it DOES generate money.

You're right Janusha. That's because school's purpose is not to educate. That's just the ruse. It's primary purpose is to brainwash, indoctrinate, and stifle creativity and individuality. And they've been hugely successful! Despite the decline in quality of education, people are more than willing to continue to throw money at the problem. When is it OK to call it a failure and start over?

These days, the stuff that passes for public schooling over there is virtually no education at all. People come out of that without even the basic read & write skills.

@AllianceOfJerkOffs wake up douchebag

The solution is getting rid of cumpulsory public education! It's only purpose is to brainwash children to be obedient worker bees for the state. If they step out of line, the state gets called in to punish. Wake up!

School: (noun) Indoctrination center where children are sent to be stripped of their freedom and individuality, and are turned into obedient, soul-dead conformist members of the world's consumer culture.
